ENGINEERING CALCULATORS

Cycle peak & RMS motor torque calculator

Engineering calculators (Beta)

Compare torque and mechanical regenerative energy across a complete cycle.

Inputs

Choose units and enter numbers. Full-width digits and fractions such as 1/8 or 1 3/8 are accepted. Changing a unit converts the entered value.

Results

Reference calculation only. Results do not certify suitability for an actual design or its safety.

Formula and applicability

Ta=TL+Jω/ta; Td=TL−Jω/td; Trms=√[Σ(Ti²ti)/Σti]; Eregen=max(0,−Td)ωtd/2

Displayed values are rounded. Diagrams illustrate the calculation conditions. Initial material and fluid properties are examples; replace them with values for the actual material, temperature and conditions.

Reference
Using this information as a reference

Equations assume particular loads, supports and deformation ranges. Check inputs, units and the applicability of each equation. Diagrams explain conditions; they are not manufacturing drawings or proof of safety.

Material values are typical values or reference ranges, not certified product properties or ready-to-use design allowables. They vary with standards, product form, dimensions, temper and temperature. Check the specifications and inspection certificates for the actual product.

Displayed safety factors and checks apply only to the supplied inputs and calculation model. They do not automatically establish the safety of a complete design, including code compliance, service life, fatigue or joints. For actual design, manufacture and use, separately verify applicable regulations and standards, product specifications, and the necessary tests and engineering review.

Ta=TL+Jω/ta; Td=TL−Jω/td; Trms=√[Σ(Ti²ti)/Σti]; Eregen=max(0,−Td)ωtd/2

全入力は同じモーター軸基準です。減速機の効率はこの画面では再適用しません。一定の抵抗トルクが正方向運動を妨げる水平等価モデルです。重力負荷の反転・電気側回生容量・機種の熱定格は別検討です。

What this calculator does

Compare torque and mechanical regenerative energy across a complete cycle.

Inputs, outputs and applicability

The selected model determines which of these inputs and outputs apply. Use the working diagram and input panel above to calculate.

Inputs

  • Total motor-shaft-equivalent inertia J (kg·m² / kg·cm² / kg·mm²)
  • Resistance opposing positive rotation (N·m / N·mm / mN·m)
  • Peak motor speed (rpm / rad/s / °/s)
  • Acceleration duration (s / min / µs)
  • Cruise duration (s / min / µs)
  • Deceleration duration (s / min / µs)
  • Dwell duration (s / min / µs)
  • Holding torque during dwell (N·m / N·mm / mN·m)

Calculated results

  • Acceleration torque (N·m)
  • Cruise torque (N·m)
  • Deceleration torque (negative = regenerative) (N·m)
  • Peak absolute torque (N·m)
  • Whole-cycle RMS torque (N·m)
  • Cycle duration (s)
  • Mechanical regenerative energy in deceleration (J)

Formula overview

Ta=TL+Jω/ta; Td=TL−Jω/td; Trms=√[Σ(Ti²ti)/Σti]; Eregen=max(0,−Td)ωtd/2

All inputs refer to the same motor shaft; gearbox efficiency is not reapplied. Constant resistance opposes positive motion. Reversing gravity loads, electrical regenerative capacity and motor thermal ratings require separate evaluation.

The displayed formula and conditions in the working panel apply to the currently selected model. Reference calculation only; it does not certify a complete design.
