Conditions

Select symbols such as H7 and g6. The JIS B 0401-2:1998 excerpt covers all 38 hole and 36 shaft classes listed there, for diameters >0–500 mm; it is not exhaustive coverage of all ISO/JIS designations.

2D · shaft and hole section

0.00 sReveal animation

The section exaggerates clearance and does not preserve the overall part proportions. Insertion illustrates dimensional relationships only.

How to read this view

Minimum and maximum clearance

Minimum clearance=minimum hole−maximum shaft. Maximum clearance=maximum hole−minimum shaft. Positive means clearance; negative means interference. Radial clearance is half the diametral difference.

Does this prove a part can be inserted?

This shows ideal dimensional relationships only. Roughness, roundness, temperature, chamfers and friction are excluded. When the range includes interference, the animation stops short rather than forcing insertion.

Using tolerance symbols

Changing the diameter updates deviations to the tabulated size band. Untabulated classes or bands are not estimated. Switch to custom deviations to use other verified values.
