| Reference / example | Value | What it means | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5% grade | 5% | Rise of 0.25 m over a 5 m horizontal run | |
| 10% grade | 10% | Rise of 0.5 m over a 5 m horizontal run | |
| 100% grade | 100% | Rise of 5 m over a 5 m horizontal run |
Grade percent = rise / horizontal run ×100, rather than rise / slope length.
Applies to condition A. Then press Play or Reveal.
Conditions
Distance means horizontal run, not slope length. Positive uphill grades are shown.

How to read this view
Are degrees and percent the same?
Percent grade = 100×rise/run = 100 tanθ. 45° equals 100% grade. 1:n means one unit of rise for n units of horizontal run.
Scale and range
Horizontal and vertical distances use the same scale. Range: 0–80°. For 1:n, enter n>0. A level slope is shown as 1:∞.
