Plate cam:Create rise, dwell and return from rotation
A uniformly rotating plate cam drives an in-line knife-edge follower. Each revolution has 120° rise, 60° high dwell, 120° return and 60° low dwell. Change lift and rpm to inspect the moving and stationary intervals.

What to watch
The blue cam keeps rotating while the red follower pauses during each dwell. Watch its tip stay on the cam profile.
Motion model & scope
An in-line knife-edge follower uses a cycloidal rise and return. During rise, s = h[u − sin(2πu)/(2π)] for normalized interval phase u. The profile is generated by inverse follower motion using the same displacement law as the displayed contact. Contact is assumed to be maintained. Spring forces, gravity, contact forces, separation, wear and manufacturability are not calculated; high-speed contact is not guaranteed.
