FORMAT GUIDE

View STEP and STP without CAD software.

View supported STEP and STP surfaces in your browser. Rotate models, inspect sections and size, and convert supported geometry to STL.

Before opening

STEP (.step) and STP (.stp) are CAD exchange files. This does not provide direct support for vendor-specific native CAD files. Export a STEP file from the original CAD application. External references or unsupported geometry may prevent a file from opening.

Three steps

Choose a file in the viewer, check its name and format, and confirm opening. Drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, and use Fit all to reset the view. To create an STL file, select the output format, confirm conversion, and save from the result page.

Inspect the geometry

Use standard views, overall XYZ size and sections. Closed shapes receive colored section faces, while holes and cavities remain. You can measure a straight-line distance between two surface points; measurements use display triangles and are not guaranteed to match precise CAD measurements.

Free edition limits

Up to 8 MiB per file, 75,000 definitions or records, and 200,000 display triangles in 256 display groups. STEP and IGES loading stops after 45 seconds. Curved surfaces and part count affect processing load even at the same file size.

Information lost in conversion

STL retains triangle geometry. Original colors, materials, part hierarchy, design history and CAD surface definitions are not retained. Keep the original and check geometry and units in suitable CAD software before machining or manufacturing.
